요나 1장 [ASV]

1. 1 한편 주의 말씀이 아밋대의 아들 요나에게 임하여 이르시되,

   1 Now the word of Jehovah came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying,

2. 2 일어나 저 큰 도시 니느웨로 가서 그곳을 대적하여 외치라. 그들의 사악함이 내 앞에 다다랐느니라, 하시니라.

   2 Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me.

3. 3 그러나 요나가 주의 얼굴 앞을 떠나 다시스로 도망하려고 일어나서 욥바로 내려갔다가 다시스로 가는 배를 만났으므로 그가 주의 앞을 떠나 그들과 함께 다시스로 가기 위해 뱃삯을 내고 그 안으로 내려가니라.

   3 But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of Jehovah; and he went down to Joppa, and found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of Jehovah.

4. 4 ¶ 그러나 주께서 큰 바람을 바다로 보내시매 바다에 강력한 폭풍이 일어나서 그 배가 거의 부서지게 되었으므로

   4 But Jehovah sent out a great wind upon the sea, and there was a mighty tempest on the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken.

5. 5 이에 선원들이 두려워하며 저마다 자기 신에게 부르짖고 또 배를 가볍게 하려고 그 안에 있는 물건들을 바다로 던졌으나 요나는 뱃전으로 내려가 눕고는 깊이 잠이 드니라.

   5 Then the mariners were afraid, and cried every man unto his god; and they cast forth the wares that were in the ship into the sea, to lighten it unto them. But Jonah was gone down into the innermost parts of the ship; and he lay, and was fast asleep.

6. 6 그러므로 선장이 그에게 가서 그에게 이르되, 오 잠자는 자야, 이것이 무슨 의도냐? 일어나 네 하나님을 부르라. 혹시 하나님이 우리를 생각해 주시면 우리가 망하지 아니할 수도 있다, 하니라.

   6 So the shipmaster came to him, and said unto him, What meanest thou, O sleeper? arise, call upon thy God, if so be that God will think upon us, that we perish not.

7. 7 또 그들이 저마다 자기 동료에게 이르되, 오라, 우리가 제비를 뽑아 이 해악이 누구로 인해 우리에게 닥쳤는지 알아보자, 하고 이렇게 그들이 제비를 뽑으니 제비가 요나에게 떨어지니라.

   7 And they said every one to his fellow, Come, and let us cast lots, that we may know for whose cause this evil is upon us. So they cast lots, and the lot fell upon Jonah.

8. 8 이에 그들이 그에게 이르되, 원하건대 이 해악이 누구로 인해 우리에게 닥쳤는지 우리에게 말하라. 네 직업은 무엇이냐? 너는 어디서 왔느냐? 네 나라는 어디냐? 너는 어느 나라 백성이냐? 하니

   8 Then said they unto him, Tell us, we pray thee, for whose cause this evil is upon us; what is thine occupation? and whence comest thou? what is thy country? and of what people art thou?

9. 9 그가 그들에게 이르되, 나는 히브리 사람으로 바다와 육지를 만드신 주 곧 하늘의 하나님을 두려워하노라, 하니라.

   9 And he said unto them, I am a Hebrew; and I fear Jehovah, the God of heaven, who hath made the sea and the dry land.

10. 10 그가 그 사람들에게 말하였으므로 그들이 그가 주의 얼굴 앞을 떠나 도망한 것을 알고는 그때에 그들이 심히 두려워하며 그에게 이르되, 네가 어찌하여 이 일을 하였느냐? 하니라.

    10 Then were the men exceedingly afraid, and said unto him, What is this that thou hast done? For the men knew that he was fleeing from the presence of Jehovah, because he had told them.

11. 11 ¶ 바다가 움직이며 사나워지므로 그때에 그들이 그에게 이르되, 우리가 네게 무엇을 해야 바다가 우리를 위해 잔잔해지겠느냐? 하니

    11 Then said they unto him, What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm unto us? for the sea grew more and more tempestuous.

12. 12 그가 그들에게 이르되, 나를 들어 바다에 던지라. 그러면 바다가 너희를 위해 잔잔해지리라. 나로 인해 이 큰 폭풍이 너희에게 닥쳤음을 내가 아노라, 하니라.

    12 And he said unto them, Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: for I know that for my sake this great tempest is upon you.

13. 13 그럼에도 불구하고 그 사람들이 힘써 노를 저어 배를 육지로 가져가려 하였으나 바다가 움직이며 그들을 대적하여 사나워지므로 그리할 수 없더라.

    13 Nevertheless the men rowed hard to get them back to the land; but they could not: for the sea grew more and more tempestuous against them.

14. 14 그러므로 그들이 주께 부르짖어 이르되, 오 주여, 주께 간청하고 간청하오니 이 사람의 생명으로 인해 우리가 망하지 않게 하옵소서. 무죄한 피에 대한 책임을 우리에게 지우지 마옵소서. 오 주여, 주께서는 친히 기뻐하시는 대로 행하셨나이다, 하고

    14 Wherefore they cried unto Jehovah, and said, We beseech thee, O Jehovah, we beseech thee, let us not perish for this mans life, and lay not upon us innocent blood; for thou, O Jehovah, hast done as it pleased thee.

15. 15 이에 요나를 들어 바다에 던지니 바다가 격렬히 뛰놀기를 그치매

    15 So they took up Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea; and the sea ceased from its raging.

16. 16 그때에 그 사람들이 주를 심히 두려워하며 주께 희생물을 드리고 서원을 하였더라.

    16 Then the men feared Jehovah exceedingly; and they offered a sacrifice unto Jehovah, and made vows.

17. 17 ¶ 그런데 주께서 이미 큰 물고기를 예비하사 요나를 삼키게 하시매 요나가 밤낮으로 사흘 동안 그 물고기 배 속에 있었더라.

    17 And Jehovah prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah; and Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.
