전도서 11장 [KJV]

1 네 빵을 물들 위에 던지라. 여러 날 뒤에 네가 그것을 찾으리라.
1 Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days.

2 일곱에게 또 여덟에게 몫을 주라. 무슨 재앙이 땅 위에 임할지 네가 알지 못하느니라.
2 Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth.

3 구름들이 비로 가득하면 땅 위에 쏟아져 스스로를 비우며 나무가 남쪽으로나 북쪽으로나 쓰러지면 그 나무가 쓰러지는 곳에, 거기에 그것이 있으리로다.
3 If the clouds be full of rain, they empty [themselves] upon the earth: and if the tree fall toward the south, or toward the north, in the place where the tree falleth, there it shall be.

4 바람을 살피는 자는 씨를 뿌리지 못할 것이요, 구름들을 주목하는 자는 거두지 못하리로다.
4 He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.

5 영의 길이 무엇인지 또 아이 밴 여자의 태 속에서 뼈들이 어떻게 자라는지 네가 알지 못하는 것 같이 모든 것을 만드시는 [하나님]의 일들도 네가 알지 못하느니라.
5 As thou knowest not what [is] the way of the spirit, [nor] how the bones [do grow] in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.

6 아침에 네 씨를 뿌리고 저녁에 네 손을 금하지 말라. 이것이 잘 될지 저것이 잘 될지 혹은 그것들 둘 다 똑같이 좋을지 네가 알지 못하느니라.
6 In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both [shall be] alike good.

7 ¶ 진실로 빛은 달콤한 것이요, 눈으로 해를 바라보는 것은 즐거운 일이로다.
7 Truly the light [is] sweet, and a pleasant [thing it is] for the eyes to behold the sun:

8 그러나 사람이 여러 해를 살며 그 모든 해를 기뻐할지라도 어두운 날들이 많을 터인즉 그런 날들을 기억할지로다. 다가오는 모든 것은 헛되도다.
8 But if a man live many years, [and] rejoice in them all; yet let him remember the days of darkness; for they shall be many. All that cometh [is] vanity.

9 ¶ 오 청년이여, 네 젊은 때를 기뻐하라. 네 젊은 시절에 네 마음이 너를 기쁘게 하고 네 마음이 원하는 길들로 걸으며 네 눈이 보는 대로 걸으라. 그러나 이 모든 일들로 인하여 [하나님]께서 너를 심판 자리로 데려가실 줄 너는 알라.
9 Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these [things] God will bring thee into judgment.

10 그러므로 슬픔을 네 마음에서 제거하며 악을 네 육체에서 치우라. 어릴 때와 젊을 때는 헛된 것이니라.
10 Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth [are] vanity.
