1. 1 그러므로 너희는 사랑스러운 자녀들로서 하나님을 따르는 자들이 되고

   1 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.

2. 2 그리스도께서 또한 우리를 사랑하사 우리를 위해 자신을 향기로운 냄새의 헌물과 희생물로 하나님께 드리신 것같이 사랑 안에서 걸으라.

   2 And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

3. 3 더욱이 음행과 모든 부정한 것이나 탐욕은 너희 가운데서 한 번이라도 언급하지 말라. 그것이 성도에게 합당하니라.

   3 But fornication and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is fitting among saints.

4. 4 추잡한 것이나 어리석은 이야기나 희롱하는 말도 적합하지 아니하니 하지 말고 오히려 감사드리는 말을 하라.

   4 Let there be no filthiness, nor silly talk, nor levity, which are not fitting; but instead let there be thanksgiving.

5. 5 너희가 이것을 아노니 즉 음행을 일삼는 자나 부정한 자나 탐욕을 부리는 자 곧 우상 숭배자는 결코 그리스도와 하나님의 왕국에서 아무 상속 유업도 갖지 못하느니라.

   5 Be sure of this, that no fornicator or impure man, or one who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

6. 6 아무도 헛된 말들로 너희를 속이지 못하게 하라. 이것들로 인해 하나님의 진노가 불순종의 자녀들에게 닥치나니

   6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for it is because of these things that the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.

7. 7 그러므로 너희는 그들과 함께하며 참여하는 자들이 되지 말라.

   7 Therefore do not associate with them,

8. 8 너희가 한때는 어둠이었으나 이제는 주 안에서 빛이니 빛의 자녀들로서 걸으라.

   8 for once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light

9. 9 (성령의 열매는 모든 선함과 의와 진리 안에 있느니라.)

   9 (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true),

10. 10 주께서 받으실 만한 것이 무엇인지 검증하라.

    10 and try to learn what is pleasing to the Lord.

11. 11 열매 없는 어둠의 일들에 참여하지 말고 도리어 그것들을 책망하라.

    11 Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.

12. 12 그들이 은밀한 가운데 행하는 그것들은 말하는 것조차 수치니라.

    12 For it is a shame even to speak of the things that they do in secret;

13. 13 그러나 책망을 받는 모든 것은 빛에 의해 밝히 드러나게 되나니 무엇이든지 밝히 드러나게 하는 것은 다 빛이니라.

    13 but when anything is exposed by the light it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light.

14. 14 그러므로 그분께서 이르시되, 너 잠자는 자야, 깨어서 죽은 자들로부터 일어나라. 그리스도께서 네게 빛을 주시리라, 하시느니라.

    14 Therefore it is said, "Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light."

15. 15 그런즉 너희는 주의하여 조심스럽게 걷되 어리석은 자들처럼 하지 말고 지혜로운 자들처럼 하여

    15 Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise,

16. 16 시간을 되찾으라. 날들이 악하니라.

    16 making the most of the time, because the days are evil.

17. 17 그러므로 너희는 지혜 없는 자가 되지 말고 오히려 주의 뜻이 무엇인지 이해하라.

    17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

18. 18 술 취하지 말라. 그것에는 과도함이 있나니 오히려 성령으로 충만할지니라.

    18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but be filled with the Spirit,

19. 19 시와 찬송가와 영적 노래로 너희끼리 서로 말하며 너희 마음속에서 주께 노래하고 선율을 만들며

    19 addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with all your heart,

20. 20 모든 일로 인해 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 항상 하나님 곧 아버지께 감사를 드리고

    20 always and for everything giving thanks in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father.

21. 21 하나님을 두려워하는 가운데 서로에게 복종하라.

    21 Be subject to one another out of reverence for Christ.

22. 22 아내들아, 너희 남편에게 복종하기를 주께 하듯 하라.

    22 Wives, be subject to your husbands, as to the Lord.

23. 23 이는 남편이 아내의 머리 됨이 그리스도께서 교회의 머리 되심과 같기 때문이라. 그분은 그 몸의 구원자시니라.

    23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior.

24. 24 그러므로 교회가 그리스도께 복종하듯 그렇게 아내들도 모든 일에 자기 남편에게 복종할지니라.

    24 As the church is subject to Christ, so let wives also be subject in everything to their husbands.

25. 25 남편들아, 너희 아내 사랑하기를 그리스도께서 또한 교회를 사랑하사 교회를 위해 자신을 주신 것같이 하라.

    25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her,

26. 26 이것은 그분께서 말씀을 통해 물로 씻음으로 교회를 거룩히 구별하고 정결하게 하려 하심이요

    26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word,

27. 27 또 그것을 점이나 주름이나 그런 것이 없는 영광스러운 교회로 자신 앞에 제시하려 하심이며 교회가 거룩하고 흠이 없게 하려 하심이라.

    27 that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.

28. 28 이와 같이 남자들도 자기 아내를 자기 몸같이 사랑해야만 하나니 자기 아내를 사랑하는 자는 자기를 사랑하느니라.

    28 Even so husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.

29. 29 지금까지 어떤 남자도 자기 육체를 미워한 적이 없고 오히려 그것을 보살펴 자라게 하며 소중히 여기기를 주께서 교회를 위해 하시는 것처럼 하나니

    29 For no man ever hates his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, as Christ does the church,

30. 30 이는 우리가 그분의 몸과 그분의 살과 그분의 뼈들에 속한 지체들이기 때문이라.

    30 because we are members of his body.

31. 31 이런 까닭으로 남자가 자기 아버지와 어머니를 떠나 자기 아내와 결합하여 그들 둘이 한 육체가 될지니라.

    31 "For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh."

32. 32 이것은 큰 신비니라. 그러나 내가 그리스도와 교회에 대하여 말하노라.

    32 This mystery is a profound one, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church;

33. 33 그럼에도 불구하고 너희 각 사람이 자기를 사랑하듯 개별적으로 그렇게 자기 아내를 사랑하고 아내도 주의하여 자기 남편을 존경할지니라.

    33 however, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
